What good actually looks like for a B2B podcast
Most podcast benchmarks are built on consumer shows, so they tell a B2B team almost nothing. These are the real numbers from 90+ B2B podcasts Fame produces - 5,000+ episodes of downloads, followers and growth - so you can see exactly where your show stands among shows like yours.

Where B2B shows actually land
Each row is the spread across the portfolio. The median is the typical show; the 75th and 90th percentiles are what strong and top-tier B2B shows reach.
| Metric | Lower (25th) | Median | Strong (75th) | Top-tier (90th) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Downloads per episodedownloads | 275 | 570 | 1,840 | 9,400 |
| Monthly downloads per showdownloads / month | 550 | 1,900 | 13,500 | 47,900 |
| Followers per showfollowers | 340 | 1,200 | 8,500 | 27,800 |
Cadence: the typical B2B show publishes about 2 episodes a month, and the median show in this set has 26 episodes live.
The six tiers, and what each one means
Downloads per episode is the metric most teams ask about. Here is how the bands break down for B2B shows - find your number and read across.
Under 100 downloads per episode is where almost every new B2B show begins. It is not a problem - it is the starting line. Focus on consistency and reaching the right named accounts, not the headline number.
100 to 300 downloads per episode is normal for a show in its first year. For B2B this can already be valuable if those listeners are genuine buyers - a few hundred of the right people beats thousands of the wrong ones.
300 to 800 downloads per episode is right around the median for a professionally produced B2B podcast. Solid, dependable reach. The next question is whether you are reaching decision-makers in your target accounts.
800 to 2,000 downloads per episode puts you in the top quarter of B2B shows. Strong, consistent reach - more than enough to drive real pipeline if the right people are listening.
2,000 to 9,000 downloads per episode is roughly the top 10% of B2B shows. Excellent reach. At this level, converting the audience you have beats chasing more downloads.
9,000+ downloads per episode is exceptional for a B2B show - the top few percent. The opportunity now is monetising and converting that audience, not growing it for its own sake.

Methodology
- Figures are aggregated across 90+ B2B podcasts Fame produces, covering more than 5,000 published episodes. They are anonymised percentile distributions - no individual show is named and no single show's numbers are shown.
- Downloads per episode is calculated as a show's typical (median) monthly downloads divided by its publishing cadence, so it reflects the ongoing downloads an episode earns across the back catalogue, not just its first week.
- These are B2B shows, so the picture differs from consumer-podcast benchmarks: audiences are usually smaller but far higher-value, which is why we lead with where you stand among B2B shows rather than all podcasts.
- Numbers are rounded for readability and reflect the portfolio as of the date above. Treat them as well-grounded rules of thumb, not precise thresholds.
